Chemical (Process Engineer)

Chemical (Process Engineer)

Chemical (Process Engineer)

Position Responsibilities:

The Engineer will gain experience in the following chemical engineering areas:

  • Design and specification of process pumping and piping systems
  • Design, operation, and troubleshooting of chemical processes
  • Reading and developing P&IDs consistent with PIP drawing standards
  • Management of project scoping, tracking metrics, and timelines
  • Design and knowledge of specification and operation of process control systems and instrumentation
  • Design and knowledge of pressure vessels and over pressure relief systems in petrochemical applications


From time to time, the Engineer shall participate in field walk downs as necessary to verify or develop as-built and/or new documentation including:

  • P&IDs, 
  • Project design with clients


The Engineer shall develop and have strong skills in communication with clients, project engineers and other design disciplines to develop instrument / electrical design / construction documents as required for various industrial design project applications.


Gain experience to participate in safety analyses in the process industry 

(i.e. PSM, RMP PHA, MOC, PSSR)


Prerequisite Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering 
  • Internships or experience practicing chemical engineering as described above preferably in the petrochemical industry.
  • Completed FE Exam or scheduled to take. Open Range Engineering will encourage and require the pursuit of a Professional Engineering license in the state of Texas.
  • Experience in use of computer aided design software including but not limited to AutoCAD 


Position Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen 
  • The Engineer’s office will be at the Open Range Engineering Office located at 217 North Cuyler Street, Pampa, Texas.
  • Must be a holder of valid driver’s license 
  • Valid passport preferred, but not required
  • The Engineer will be required to travel from time to time as necessary for assigned projects. Some travel may be outside the US.
  • Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening and background check

Mechanical Engineer

  • Design and specification of process pumping and piping systems
  • Design of commercial and industrial HVAC systems
  • Reading and developing P&IDs
  • Design of light weight structures
  • Project management
  • Design and knowledge of pressure vessels and over pressure relief systems in petrochemical applications

From time to time, the Engineer shall participate in field walk downs as necessary to verify or develop as-built and/or new documentation including:

  • P&IDs, 
  • Project design with clients

The Engineer shall develop and have strong skills in communicating with clients, project engineers and other design disciplines to develop instrument/electrical design/construction drawings as required for various industrial and commercial design project applications.

I&E Engineer

  Position Responsibilities:

The I&E Engineer will gain experience in the following electrical power areas:

  • Design and specification of medium and low voltage switchgear
  • Perform arc flash analysis (experience with ETAP software is desirable)
  • Perform voltage drop calculations, and basic cable and conduit sizing
  • Be familiar with hazardous electrical area classification

The I&E Engineer will gain experience in the following instrumentation areas:

  • Experience in reading ladder and function block diagrams
  • Programing Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) PLCs
  • Application of process control instrumentation in chemical and petroleum process
  • Knowledge of SIS applications


The I&E Engineer will gain skills required to develop wiring diagrams, panel drawings, connection diagrams, one-line diagrams, schematic/elementary diagrams, logic diagrams and conduit/raceway diagrams.


The I&E Engineer will gain experience with producing complex engineering drawings in AutoCAD.


From time to time, the I&E Engineer shall participate in field walk downs as necessary to verify or develop as-built and/or new documentation including:

  • P&IDs, 
  • To determine electrical area classification, 
  • To obtain electrical information required to perform arc flash analysis


The Engineer shall develop and have strong skills in communication with clients, project engineers and other design disciplines to develop instrument/electrical design/construction drawings as required for various industrial and commercial design project applications.


Prerequisite Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • Internships or experience in the design of electrical/instrument in the petrochemical industry.
  • Completed FE Exam or scheduled to take. Open Range Engineering will encourage and require the pursuit of a Professional Engineering license in the state of Texas.
  • Experience in use of computer-aided design software including but not limited to AutoCAD 


Position Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen 
  • Must be a holder of valid driver’s license 
  • Valid passport preferred, but not required
  • The Engineer’s office will be at the Open Range Engineering Office located at 217 North Cuyler Street, Pampa, Texas.
  • The Engineer will be required to travel from time to time as necessary for assigned projects. Some travel may be outside of the US.

  • Mechanical knowledge to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Civil/Structural Engineer

Position Responsibilities:

The Engineer will gain experience in the following civil/structural engineering areas:

  • Design and specification of general site design including layout, roads, drainage
  • Design of equipment structural supports, overhead cranes, 
  • Design of foundations for buildings (commercial/industrial/residential) and equipment, slab on grade, retaining walls
  • Design of building components such as beams, trusses, joists
  • General knowledge of requirements for commercial building design including awareness of applicable building codes and standards, ADA requirements
  • Project management
  • Inspection of structures after damage has occurred resulting from fire, weather, impact

The Engineer shall develop and have strong skills in communication with clients, project engineers and other design disciplines to develop design/construction drawings as required for various industrial and commercial design project applications. Engineer will learn to write reports including inspection reports, project scope documents, and project specifications.


Prerequisite Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering 
  • Internships or experience practicing civil/structural engineering as described above
  • Completed FE Exam or scheduled to take. Open Range Engineering will encourage and require the pursuit of a Professional Engineering license in the state of Texas. 
  • Experience in use of computer aided design software including but not limited to AutoCAD 
  • Proficient in use of basic communication software tools including Word and Excel 


Position Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen 
  • The Engineer’s office will be at the Open Range Engineering Office located at 217 North Cuyler Street, Pampa, Texas
  • The Engineer will be required to travel from time to time as necessary for assigned projects, including air travel. Some travel may be outside the US.
  • Must be a holder of valid driver’s license and passport. 
  • Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening and background check.
