Managers seeking to reduce risk in their facilities have often heard about Safety Instrumented Systems (SISs). One of the most common questions we get asked is, “Do we have SISs in our facility?” For anyone who has had a minimum of exposure to the sales side of SISs, it is then easy to feel overwhelmed by the information available.
The class demonstrates the very basics of how to identify the SISs associated with identified hazardous events in an operating process. This presentation illustrates how the Company uses its PSM risk identification, assessment and management process with the “ISA 61511 Application Practice” to reduce risk. The presentation shows how risk is reduced by reducing the frequency of undesirable events with consequences that could adversely impact people, production, communities, and the environment as the result of a process upset. Additionally, the overview gives management insight to governing policies/procedures and resources necessary to meet and maintain appropriate mechanical integrity requirements for these systems.
